The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) is a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association. ANCC’s internationally renowned credentialing programs certify and recognize individual nurses in specialty practice areas. The The ANCC Pathway to Excellence® is a peer-reviewed annual conference. I presented a performance improvement project, Lean: What Nurses Can Learn From a Car Company at the ANCC Pathway to Excellence Conference in San Antonio, TX, May 2014. As a role model, mentor, and to encourage professional membership I sponsored three staff nurses from Kings County Hospital to present this project with me.
The American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA) Annual Conference is the largest gathering of PMH nurses in the US. The peer-reviewed program each year features more than three days of continuing education specific to psychiatric-mental health nursing. I presented Safety Monitoring: One Size Does Not Fit All at the 29th Annual Conference in Lake Buena Vista, FL.

Abstract: The use of reflective practice in nursing education is a well-researched stratagem and can be incorporated into didactic learning. Without access to clinical settings, students can reflect on personal life experiences and relate them to their behaviors, values, and professional performance.
